Sunset Trail - Project Kickoff

On Saturday, October 14, 2023, California State Parks, in partnership with Mount Diablo Trails Alliance as a promotional supporter, organized 11 volunteers to support the State Park’s official Second Saturday VIPP Trail Crew. The Dig Day commenced work on tread repairs and the construction of armored drain swales on Sunset Trail.

The volunteers helped transport rock/gravel loads to the middle canyon of the trail. It was an arduous task, requiring safety and focus at all times. Two armored drain swales were constructed, helping ensure that seasonal high water flows do not flood the trail.
