Oyster Point Trail - Incredible Effort
On December 10, 2023, California State Parks, in partnership with Mount Diablo Trails Alliance as a promotional supporter, hosted a Dig Day on Oyster Point Trail. Thirty (30) volunteers of all ages and trail user interests joined, helping repair 0.35 miles of trail tread in one day.
The volunteers’ level of dedication, collaboration and energy invested in the Dig Day was incredible. It was a major restoration project on the upper section of Oyster Point Trail, which affords beautiful views of the cliffs near Knobcone Point. Plus, the work site was deep in the backcountry, but the extra effort did not deter such a dedicated community of trail champions.
The Dig Day addressed significant water erosion damage sustained over many years. The volunteers repaired the damaged sections for the safety of all users and also the preservation of ecological resources. Proven techniques, such as full bench construction and water knick structures, were integral to making the repairs built-to-last.
At lunch break, volunteers enjoyed tasty sandwiches and treats, sponsored by SRV MTB Team. Afterwards, free raffle prize drawings sweetened the day, and the volunteers’ big smiles were made possible by your Local Bike Shop partners: First Mile Cycle Works, Danville Bike, Hank & Frank, and R&A Cycles. We are very grateful for their support.
