Sunset Trail - Making Progress

On Sunday, October 22, 2023, California State Parks, in partnership with Mount Diablo Trails Alliance as a promotional supporter, organized a Dig Day on Sunset Trail. The event attracted 29 volunteers. It was a strong showing, as the volunteers invested a lot of human energy and dedication to the trail that day.

Despite misty skies, the volunteers worked diligently to rock-armor creek banks and also began the tedious but important task of installing rock-based energy dissipators to slow high water flows during the winter storm season. The goals are to reduce flooding risk on the trail’s tread.
